It is clear from the graph that unemployment costs have increased - and rather dramatically. With the recent economic downturn this should not come as a surprise.
To reiterate what was stated last year - good documentation of employment action taken, consistent application of policy, and the involvement of the Department of Employee Services and County Counsel early on in disciplinary and separation situations can help to limit avoidable costs.
