Public Information Office (News Releases)

The Sheriff appoints a Public Information Officer (PIO) to make sure the media -- and the public -- have full access to appropriate information.

The PIO writes news releases; conducts interviews with television, radio and newspaper outlets; and controls access to sensitive crime scenes.

The PIO provides information about major crimes and incidents -- using the press to solicit public assistance as needed. He or she also builds a positive relationship with the community by promoting various Sheriff's Office programs and activities.

Det. Jim Strovink, a 30-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, currently serves as PIO.
